Even as an adolescent, GEOFFREY PAY had a special
interest in the mechanics of visual and interactive media. He
can remember spending hours with the Choose Your Own Adventure
series as he investigated every narrative thread. That fascination
with interactive storytelling carried over to PCs and eventually to
multimedia where his creative interests bloomed.
In spite of his immersion in virtual media,
an early introduction to photography and fine arts form the foundation
for his aesthetic instincts. Arriving in Philadelphia as an undergraduate,
he studied environmental design and art history, disciplines
that taught him how to observe and examine visual detail. A steady
diet of Asian pop culture, animation, video games, and motion
graphics continue to inform his tastes and his style.
After completing architecture and business studies in
Philadelphia, New York City, and Paris, he moved to San Francisco, where he embarked
on a career in public service. He would eventually earn a law
degree and advocate for sustainable growth and affordable housing
on behalf of the Bay Conservation and Development Commission,
the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency, the National Trust for
Historic Preservation, and HUD. At the epicenter of the internet
economy, he saw a variety of opportunities to apply his analytical
and creative talents to multimedia solutions. Several years
ago, he left the public sector to pursue a career in digital design
and development. In that time, he has compiled a diverse body
of credits in various mediums including web, print, and broadcast.
With each challenge, he continues to shape and execute strong
creative agendas.
